Cholelethiasis due to gallstones is the most common biliary pathology with a prevalence of 10 – 15%. It is asymptomatic in more than 80% of cases and symptomatic in approximately 1to 2% of patients. Aim to know the incidence of asymptomatic gallstones in the general population in post mortem. The material for the present study comprises of 300 autopsy cases that are subjected to post-mortem in the mortuary for a period of 2 years. The cases are confirmed asymptomatic by histopathological examination of gallbladders with gallstones by considering criteria.
