Abstract
FAILURE OF LAPAROSCOPIC WOUND CLOSURE DUE TO COLONISATION OF BIOFILM PRODUCING MRSA –A CASE REPORT

Biofilm aspect of chronic wounds has not been properly studied in our set up. Chronic discharging sinuses have high probability of biofilm colonization. Such chronic infection is rarely cured by use of a sensitive systemic antimicrobial agent at therapeutic doses and often requires excision of biofilm colonized tissues under cover of the drug. Here we report a case of treatment refractory chronic discharging wound following laparoscopic colecystectomy of a 18 year old female due to colonization of biofilm producing MRSA.
