Abstract
AN OBSERVATIONAL STUDY ON THERAPEUTIC CHALLENGES OF COPPER SULPHATE POISONING IN A TERTIARY CARE HOSPITAL IN EASTERN INDIA

Acute copper sulphate poisoning is always an emergency as many patients died due to severe complications mainly acute kidney injury. Treatment of this poisoning after its absorbtion from GI tract is lacking in literature. Though, chelation is tried but failure rate is high. In this case, the patient was treated with penicillamine and anti oxidant and showed significant improvement within a short period of time. This study states the successful use of chelation with antioxidant in acute copper sulphate poisoning – a therapeutic challenge.
