ASSOCIATION OF HELICOBACTER PYLORI INFECTION WITH LIFESTYLE CHRONIC DISEASES AND BODY-INDEX

Helicobacter pylori is a human pathogen that causes a cocktail of several illnesses ranging from chronic gastritis, oesophagitis and ulcers to stomach and duodenal cancer. The present study aimed to detect frequency of Helicobacter pylori antibodies and its risk factors among symptomatic patients and to determine the relation between sero-positive ( IgG) H. pylori and its lifestyle factor, body mass index (BMI) and hypertension. The study was carried out at Atbara Hospital a 91 blood sample were collected & Helicobacter pylori specific IgG antibodies were measured by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (third generation). Study examines the association between lifestyle factors, chronic disease, body-index, and the frequency of H. pylori. The frequency of IgG among the study group was 74.7%. The frequency of H. pylori infection is increased in people with normal BMI.
