Human echinococcosis (hydatid disease) is a zoonotic infection which occurs when there is a close association of dog, sheep and man. Echinococcosis is a parasitic infestation in dog which accidently reaches man through feco oral route. Liver and lungs are the commonest sites of cyst formation. Very rarely by crossing the liver and lung barrier the larval stage reaches the other parts of human body. Herein we present a case of primary hydatid cyst of the retoperitoneum which is a very rare presentation without any evidence of disease in liver and lungs.
