Abstract

Molecular characterization of M.tuberculosis and M. bovis in the clinical isolates and bovine specimens were done by utilizing Nested PCR targeting hupB gene. Total of 205 specimens were considered out of which 34 came positive for M. tuberculosis whereas 10 were positive for M. bovis. In two cases mixed infection for M.tuberculosis as well as M. bovis was observed. A single case of M. bovis was observed in clinical isolates of pus and lymph node; whereas the rest of the positive cases were for M. bovis and was analyzed in bovine milk and animal feces. The findings include the reveling of the infections caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Non tuberculosis mycobacterium and M. bovis. Such epidemiological studies will be very useful to prepare the strategies for the proper management of the disease
