Abstract

Pseudo pancreatic cysts occur commonly following pancreatitis. The presentation varies and the diagnosis is based on clinical findings and by imaging (Ultrasonography and contrast enhanced CT scan). They need to be followed carefully and treated appropriately. The present study discusses a prospective clinical study of 60 cases of Pseudo cysts of pancreas diagnosed clinically and on imaging technique in 146 patients (42 Acute and 104 Chronic) who were suffering from pancreatitis. Pain abdomen was the presenting complaint in all cases. USG was diagnostic in 100% cases. 38 patients were treated conservatively and 22 patients had drainage procedures (US guided percutaneous drainage-2, Endo scopic drainage- 10, Cysto-gastrostomy-8 and Cysto-jejunostomy-2). Surgical site infection was noted in 8 of the 10 cases operated. There was no mortality in our series and none had showed recurrence.
