Abstract

Anatomy of proximal femur and acetabulum are very important in total hip replacement surgery. As total hip replacement is a common surgery performed nowadays knowledge of the dimensions of acetabulum and femoral head will assist, prosthetists to construct suitable prostheses for South Indians. To find the difference between the male and female morphometric analysis value of acetabulum and femoral head in South Indian human cadavers. A descriptive and correlative approach is selected for this study. A sample of 100 adult human cadavers was selected in that 70 males and 30 female cadavers were selected by using purposive sampling technique and which met the inclusion criteria. Vernier scale was used to measure the hip joints (diameter of head of femur, acetabulum and depth of acetabulum in both sexes). It was found that all three parameters of hip joint in male were greater than the female
