Abstract

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is the most lethal of urologic malignancies accounting for 2-3% of all new cancers diagnosed and 85% of all kidney tumors (1). There is little data on the spectrum of renal cell carcinomas in adults in India. The objective of this hospital based study is to analyze the clinic pathological spectrum of RCC in the Southern part of North East India. A total of 80 cases of RCC was analyzed during a period of eight years from 2008 to 2016 in Cachar Cancer Hospital & Research Centre, Silchar. Most of the patient with RCC presented at a higher age group with a high male to female ratio. Symptomatic tumor with advanced stage is still common here. Conventional/clear cell carcinoma is the most frequent histologic type. Surgical resection for clinically localized disease remains the mainstay for curative intervention. The 3 year survival was reported in 50% of cases.
