Abstract
ASSOCIATION BETWEEN AUTOIMMUNE THROMBOCYTOPENIA PURPURA AND HELICOBACTER PYLORI INFECTION

Among those non-digestive system disease immune thrombocytopenia purpura (ITP) is known to be one of the disease that is related with H pylori. Anemia is the other non-digestive system disease caused by H pylori that lacks with demonstration for pathophysiology. To compare the association between various characteristics and outcome of H pylori positive patients and H pylori negative patients. The present study aimed to assess the association between H pylori and Autoimmune Thrombocytopenia Purpura (AITP). Among these 67 patients with AITP, 17 patients have been diagnosed to have H pylori positive. As first-line treatment corticosteroids was given to all the patients at a dose of 1mg/Kg for about 3 weeks. Splenectomy was considered in patients with chronic outcomes of AITP. Platelet count at the time of diagnosis was diagnosed at measures of 103/µl. Mean values of positive group was 14 and 21 in negative bacterial infection. Range was observed to be 1-45 in positive patients and 5-60 in negative patients. Positive for anti-platelet antibodies was observed to be 11 and 25 in positive and negative patients respectively. Acute outcome was 4 in patient of positive group at a percentage of 23.52%, 9 patients with a percentage of 34.61% in negative group. Partial or complete response to corticosteroids was seen in 13 patients of positive group with a percentage of 76.47%, and 15 patients in negative group with a percentage of 57.69%
