Abstract
Establishing a person?s identity can be a very strenuous process. Dental, fingerprint, DNA, facial reconstruction comparisons are probably the most common techniques allowing rapid and secure identification processes. However since they cannot always be used, sometimes it is necessary to apply different and lesser known techniques. The study of lingual morphology is an evolving forensic aid which is based entirely on characteristic tongue prints. These prints exhibit sexual dimorphism in addition to its peculiarity. This article reviews the importance and authenticity of tongue as an adjunct in this advancing filed of forensic odontology.
