Gastric carcinoma remains one of the most common causes for cancer related death. The symptoms and signs of gastric carcinoma are often reported late, when the disease is already in advanced stage. Aims and Objectives: To study the prevalence and pattern of gastric carcinoma in the southern part of North East India. Methods: This retrospective study included all reported cases of gastric carcinomas diagnosed from Jan 2012 to Sept 2015 at Cachar Cancer Hospital & Research Centre (CCHRC), a comprehensive cancer centre located in Silchar. Prevalence, types, anthropological data were extracted from the clinical record of the pathologically proven gastric malignancy. Results: Out of 112 cases, majority were moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma, intestinal type. Median age of study population was 56years with male predominance. Majority were located in antro-pyloric region. Karimganj and Cachar districts of Assam along with Tripura showed highest number of reported cases. Conclusion: Gastric carcinoma mainly affects a wide age group between 26- 81years with a male predominance. Surprisingly, cardia was moderately involved. Histologically intestinal type was the most common subtype of adenocarcinoma found in this study
