<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><Articles><Article><id>572</id><JournalTitle>UNDERSTANDING THE NATIVE POLYACRYLAMIDE SLAB GEL ELECTROPHORESIS PATTERN OF SERUM LDH ISOENZYMES IN CLINICAL SAMPLES</JournalTitle><Abstract>The present study evaluates the electrophoretogram of serum lactate dehydrogenase for understanding the isoenzymes
pattern under different clinical conditions. Serum samples were procured from 25 well-matched controls and 25 clinically
approved patients. The clinical conditions comprise acute myocardial infarction, chronic kidney disease, hepatic cirrhosis,
pulmonary emphysema and infiltrating ductal carcinoma of breast. The lactate dehydrogenase isoenzyme separation was
carried out using lab-made native polyacrylamide slab gel electrophoresis. As documented in previous studies, the
electrophoretogram of lactate dehydrogenase isozyme in case of controls exhibited the pattern as
LDH2>LDH1>LDH3>LDH4â‰¤LDH5. The classical flipped pattern of acute myocardial infarction was also apparent in our
study. In all the remaining clinical conditions, relatively dominant LDH5 zone was observed. In addition to LDH5, in
pulmonary emphysema, LDH3 was also dominant coexisting zone. In certain cases of AMI and CKD, abnormal
electrophoretogram with isomorphic pattern was observed. Isomorphic pattern was more dominant in AMI. The isomorphic
pattern with dominant LDH5 was the distinct feature of CKD. Hence, this study further supports the efficacy of native PAGE
